End, Forgiving

End, Forgiving

Even as it ends, darkness

beckons the light as if it would

be a willing partner, not

exactly the one that will

–without pause– erase

existence of itself — of us,

of all our articles, even ‘the’

–all ‘the’ existential ways

we find to invite ‘it’

–inside– before ‘it’ erases

another indeterminate day:

spent–unfulfilled– with

a longing for night.

. . . . .
