Descendants

fields, plural — field, single
lives singing
parts that were once whole

as we pass, fellow travelers

views from the old gazebo
moss burning
sticks that break and break

as we pass, fellow travelers

eventually we may dream
scenes reeling
beyond purple pharmacies

as we pass, fellow travelers

graces fallen from the book
hours opening
we speak poetry’s cold aire

as we pass, fellow travelers

let’s paddle our own canoes
glimpsing ghosts
as we pass fellow travelers

as we pass, fellow travelers

. . . . .
