Sarah Ewing Hall (30 Oct 1761 – 08 Apr 1830 | Philadelphia PA – Philadelphia PA) Christian literature poet, educator, essayist, Bible translator and commentator,

Author’s Prefaces to First, Second & Fourth Editions of her Conversations on the Bible:

(Third Edition unauthorized.) Amidst the splendid improvements which not dazzle the

world, it is glory to behold the Bible traversing the globe, till the Sun of righteousness

irradiates, alike, the palace and the cottage. Encouraged by favourable reception of the

first edition, and especially by its introduction into some very respectable schools, the

author ventured to continue her work to the end of the Old Testament. In submitting

another edition to the public, it would evince a degree of insensibility in the author to

neglect the opportunity which is offered, to express her gratitude for the indulgence

which this work has received. Owing to this favourable disposition, its imperfections

have been unnoticed by those pleased to recommend it in terms far beyond its merits.
