Pleasant Spring has come again, when Mary had a little lamb, fleece white as snow. How
beautiful the morning when summer days are long, full of wild-bird’s song. The mole is
blind, and under ground. The eagle soars on high, sunbeams in his eye. Both live happy
in their own way. Look! black clouds rise, spread through sky & vivid lightning fills this
sultry day. Fable: The Boy, the Bee, and Butterfly sing when whistling winds are keen &
rude; they have no home, no friends, nor food. A week passed away: nothing is abiding.
Now gloomy winter days with clouds & storms coming on, but our cheerful hearth doth
blaze bright. Checks or cheers we will obey, be silent or rejoice, when evening appears.
For ‘tis from thy bounty that all must be fed. Forgive transgressions: teach us to know!
