amazing peace —
the complete poetry
I dream a world —
I shall not be moved
letter to my daughter —
life still doesn’t frighten me
mom and me and mom —
mother: a cradle to hold us
gather together in my name —
I know why the caged bird sings
all us children need traveling shoes —
celebrate rituals of peace and prayer
race, grace, and gender revolution —
even the stars still look lonesome
love’s own exquisite freedom —
brings brave and startling truths
sears the hearts of women —
on slowed pulses of mourning
yet, still we rise — hallelujah!
our songs flung up to heaven
