Lucidity, As It Alights Over and Beyond
Roadside poems for summer travelers,
as it is their idyll at the beautiful gate.
There, unseen friends’ similitudes
gather from oceans and prairies.
There, mill girls pick wild roses
just beyond Larcom Mountain.
There, New England girls turn
wheels like ancient women.
There, a poet feeds herself
digesting every syllable.
It is her idyll at the gate,
as she too travels on.
