Mother Christmas

WSPB Exclusive Interview: Mother Christmas Live 2015

Q Mrs Claus, I have to ask: how long have you been married to Mr. Claus?
A Well, to be honest, on too many days it feels like it’s been hundreds of years.

Q Oh, I see. Well, will there be a sequel to “Single Santa Seeks Mrs Claus” soon?
A Well, you know, we’re waiting on developments before we announce anything.

Q Okay. Our audience wants to know if you and Claus really live at Korvatunturi?
A Yes, Korvatunturi in Lapland is one of our most recent permanent residences…

Q But there’ quite a bit of ongoing confusion about where you and Claus live…
A Well, we also have vacation homes in Iceland, Greenland, and the North Pole, so…

Q Oh, okay. We’ve heard, though, that you may earn quite bit less than Santa. True?
A Yes, sad but true. Seems my equally long hours of work do not deserve equal pay…

Q We’re wondering if you would share the recipe for your famous gingerbread cookies?
A Uh, sorry, no. That recipe – along with my cosmic arctic eggnog — are still classified.

Q All right. The sweet, old Mrs Claus is a trope often used in popular culture. Thoughts?
A Well, in fact I’m ageless and not that sweet. Any sweetness comes from baking, really.

Q Ah, that leads us to your new book: Mrs. Claus Reveals Santa’s Fifty Favorite Cookies.
A Yes, thanks. I’m currently on a worldwide, whirlwind tour promoting the new book.

Q Are there any new recipes in this edition that folks might be able to look forward to?
A No. Fifty is plenty. But this year, I’ve included found poetry based on the old recipes.

Q So one of the big questions now: Does Santa really love cookies, or is it all just hype?
A What can I say? Man loves to eat. But I bake with love and that’s what it’s all about, eh?

Q Yes! Recently we heard you and Claus have volunteered to help track global warming.
A That’s true. We’re uniquely situated to monitor polar icecap melt each month, so we do.

Q As we end, any holiday tips? I mean, who does Christmas better than Mrs. Claus, right?
A I’d like to put a plug in for keeping it simple. Maybe just celebrate Christmas every day.

Q Well, that’s it for us today. Thanks for stopping by! Anything to add before we sign off?
A Sure! Stop by for big discounts on eggnog and gingerbread after the holidays! Ha ha ha!
