Sungazer zooms out,

discovers a seven-spotted

something on the lens.

A new sunspot on the solar

surface? But no, none

has been reported. It was

still solar minimum. What

were these spots then?

Time to clean the scope so

sightings will be clear.

Aha! Ladybug on the lens!

How the markings on

the back of this coccinella

septempunctata mimic

sunspots. How the dappled

outer-shell resembles

convective solar granules.

Natural imitations

of this humble little bug,

created here on earth —

but with patterns reflected

on surfaces of our sun.

This: microcosmic fun!
