Wilderness Calls

Like sap that runs down

Like pitch on your hands

Like ice jams breaking up

Like silence after crows

Like bears who reawaken

Like elders who may fall

Like trees leafing into bud

Like birds rebuilding nests

Like rain that falls on snow

Like minds we may not know

Like thunder after lightning

Like children while they rest

Like circles that connect —

Like moments when we quest

Wilderness calls us to reclaim —

each wild place — of peace.

. . . . . .
