Today I practiced the yoga of being in the world, but not of the world, as I walked through hundreds of visitors and vendors gathered for the annual Chester Fall Festival. Then I practiced the yoga of loving-kindness by buying a home-made apple pie for a friend who couldn’t walk to get it for herself.
Later I practiced the yoga of blissful presence as I breathed and watched the leaves change colors on the trees outside my window overlooking the senior circle. During that observation, a call for urgent assistance came from my next door neighbor. There, I practiced the yoga of comfort and compassion as I called 911, rubbed her back and reminded her to breathe long and slow as we waited for the EMTs and the ambulance to arrive.
Yoga works in wondrous ways.
